The PhD Programme for Social Studies in Medicine
at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, announces
1 PhD scholarship in occupational therapy
The purpose of The PhD Programme for Social Studies in Medicine is to coordinate and develop social studies in medicine by providing educational activities for research students at an internationally high level, with focus on qualitative methods in social studies in medicine.
The scholarship is financed by the Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Southern Denmark, the Danish Association of Occupational Science and The PhD Programme for Social Studies in Medicine (with funding from the Danish Research Agency)
It is expected that the project will be connected to the Research Unit of Occupational Science at University of Southern Denmark. The project must contribute to an advancement of the research- based knowledge in occupational therapy. Furthermore applicants are encouraged to relate to one of the PhD programme’s focus areas (psychosocial cancer research, social studies in psychiatry, health promotion and profession development).
The head supervisor of the project must be employed as professor or associate professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, USD.
Applications for the three year scholarships are invited from candidates who hold or expect to hold a candidate degree or an equivalent degree.
The scholarship covers the intuition fee and 3 years salary according to the general terms as stated in the agreement between The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the Ministry of Finance. The PhD study will be subject to the general rules for PhD studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark.
The scholarship requires enrolment at the Faculty of Health Sciences and the applicant that is awarded the scholarship subsequently has to apply for the enrolment at the PhD Study Programme in Health Sciences on a particular form: http://www.sdu.dk/health/phd/skemaer/

Application, salary, etc.:
Employment is governed by the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC.
The application of the scholarship should contain:
- A project description (max 6 pages), time schedule, budget and a list of advisors as enclosures
- CV for the applicant
- Statement and a short CV for the head supervisor
Deadline for application: August 15th 2007 at 12.00 noon.

The applications for the scholarship will be assessed by a committee consisting of three persons appointed by the Danish Association of Occupational Therapists, The PhD Programme for Social Studies in Medicine and the Faculty of Health Sciences.
