[Denmark] PhD scholarship in the field of Histor – University of Aarhus
A 3 year international PhD scholarship on the subject “Danish or Nordic Development Aid Policies during the Cold War period†will be available from 1 August 2007. Preferences will be given to projects operating within one of the three fields: Foreign Policy and Development Aid Policy, Big Aid Projects in developing countries, Health and Population Politics. Comparative projects involving Denmark and one or more of the other Nordic states are encouraged.
The PhD scholarship will be financed by The Danish Ministry for Science, Technology and Innovation.
The project is a result of collaboration between The Institute of History and Area Studies at University of Aarhus and The Forum for Contemporary History at the University of Oslo.
The PhD student will be enrolled as a PhD student at The Faculty of Humanities, University of Aarhus. The Student will spend 2 years at the History Department, Aarhus University and 1 year at the Forum for Contemporary History, Oslo University, following a schedule negotiated between the successful applicant and the supervisors. Supervisors will be associate professor Thorsten Borring Olesen (Aarhus) and professor Helge Pharo (Oslo). The PhD student will be affiliated with The Danish PhD School in History and the graduate school programme in History, International Studies and Transcultural Studies at the University of Aarhus.
The PhD student will be employed by the University of Aarhus. The terms of employment as a PhD student will be in accordance with the agreement of 11 January 2006 between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on PhD scholarships.
Applicants must have a Danish candidate degree or an equivalent degree.

The written assessment of the candidate’s Master’s degree thesis must be submitted by the application deadline, and the candidate must have completed a Master’s degree no later than 31 July 2007.Supplementary appendices may not be submitted after the application deadline. Please note that incomplete applications will not be processed.
