[Denmark] PhD scholarship in Theoretical Acoustofluidics

Application Deadline : 30 March 2012

A 3-year PhD scholarship in theoretical acoustofluidics is available from mid-April 2012 in the Department of Physics.
The aim of the project is to extend the existing theory of acoustophoresis taking acoustic radiation forces and acoustic streaming into account in a numerical code. The work should result in an improved understanding of the basic physics of this non-linear phenomenon and in the development of efficient design of acousto-activated cell sorting systems. The experimental validation of the simulations is done in collaboration with colleagues at Lund University and at U.C. Santa Barbara.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have (or soon obtain) a master’s degree in theoretical microfluidics, ideally with a specialization in theoretical acoustofluidics.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see theDTU PhD Guide.

Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
