[Germany] PhD position non viral gene therapy in hemophilia
The Department of Molecular Pediatrics and the Pediatric Hemophilia Centre at Dr. von Hauner Children’s Hospital at Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich offer a PhD position for a collaborative research programme focusing on non viral gene transfer in hemophilia using magnetofection. The first aim is to design triblock vectors yielding efficient and targeted transfection of liver cells in vitro. The second aim is to study the efficiency of magnetofection in liver gene therapy using a mouse model of hemophilia. Principal information about magnetofection can be found in J Gene Med (2004) 6, 913-22 and Biol Chem (2003) 384, 737-47.
The position is available starting January 1, 2008 and is funded by a third party until December 2010. We appreciate in particular candidates with background in molecular biology and gene therapy with a degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmacy or related fields. We offer an excellent work environment and a research project at the interface of basic science and clinical medicine, which aims at the introduction of cutting-edge technologies in medicine.
