[Germany] PhD Scholarships at International Max Planck Research School for Dynamical Processes in Atoms, Molecules and Solids
Application deadline: November 30, 2006
The school offers experimental and theoretical research opportunities for young scientist who wish to obtain a doctorate degree. The focus will be on the dynamics in matter covering a wide spectrum ranging from finite atomic and molecular systems up to infinite surfaces and solids. The school’s lecture and seminar program is held in English.
We offer excellent research facilities in our partner institutions:
- the Technische Universität Dresden,
- the Forschungszentrum Rossendorf,
- the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research,
- the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids,
- the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems and
- the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research in Wroclaw/Poland.
We are looking for talented students holding a master degree or a German diploma in the field of physics or chemistry with interests in studying atomic, molecular or condensed-matter phenomena. Applicants should not be older than 30 years. Participants will be selected on a competitive basis. The successful candidates will receive a stipend that fully covers living expenses. The thesis work, which must be completed in about three years, will be complemented by a training programme in English. The PhD degree will be conferred by the Technische Universität Dresden or by the home university of the student.
