[Ireland] Irish Fulbright Awards 2008 – 2009
Funding For Study, Lecturing or Research in the United States
The Fulbright Commission awards scholarships for Irish citizens to lecture, research or study in the USA and for US citizens to lecture, research or study in Ireland. The Fulbright Programme in Ireland is currently accepting applications from Irish students, academics and professionals in any academic discipline including the visual and performing arts for its 2008 – 2009 awards programme.
• Fulbright Student Awards (maximum value €20,000 for a full academic year) are available for postgraduate study or research in the United States. Applicants may enrol for a postgraduate degree or conduct independent research as part of an Irish Ph.D. programme.
Fulbright Student Awards on offer for 2008 – 2009 include:
- Fulbright Awards in any discipline including the visual and performing arts
- Fulbright Awards for specific discipline / subject areas include:
- Fulbright – CRH Award in Business Studies
- Fulbright – Enterprise Ireland Award in Science, Technology and Innovation fields
- Fulbright – Environmental Protection Agency Award in Environmental Science / Policy fields
- Fulbright – Glen Dimplex Award in Science, Technology and Renewables fields
- Fulbright – Teagasc Award in Agriculture and Food Science / Policy fields
• Fulbright Scholar Awards (maximum value €10,000 for a full academic year) enable post-doctoral scholars and established professionals to undertake advanced research and, or lecturing at a recognised U.S. institution. Fulbright Scholar Awards on offer for 2008 – 2009 include:
- Fulbright Award in any discipline including the visual and performing arts
- Fulbright Award in Deaf Education
- Fulbright Award in Irish Literary and Cultural Studies. This award is co-sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs in conjunction with the Western Institute of Irish Studies and will be hosted by the University of California-Berkeley.
All applicants are required to:
- demonstrate excellence
- complete an application that outlines a clearly defined course of study or research and is accompanied by a personal statement, academic transcripts and or curriculum vitae, 3 references and a sample of work for visual and performing arts candidates
- secure admission from or affiliation with a recognised college / institution of higher education in the United States prior to receiving a Fulbright award
- be available for interview if short-listed
Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 14 December 2007.
