[Japan] NiBio Postdoctoral Scholarship
National Institute of Biomedical Innovation (NiBio), Osaka
A postdoctoral position is available in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Group at the NiBio. The post is funded by the Knowledge Cluster Initiative (http://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/kagaku/chiiki/cluster/index.htm) by the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and is to work on the development of novel inhibitors for specific targets, in collaboration with UK and French scientists, as well as members of the Drug Development Value-chain Consortium in Japan (http://www.senri-i.or.jp/). The successful applicant will interact with X-ray crystallographers and computational chemists, by building comparative models and analysing docking and binding data.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to carry out extended research in related areas, including structure and function prediction and docking, and to visit the collaborators’ laboratories in the UK and France.

Qualification requirements
The successful applicant will have a PhD degree in a subject relevant
to the task outlined above. A background in molecular modelling would
be highly desirable and experience with protein-ligand docking would
be an advantage.

Contract Conditions
The position is full time and for one year in the first instance, renewable annually upon evaluation. Terms and conditions of appointment will apply, including salary and health insurance, in accordance with NiBio’s standard procedures for appointing postdoctoral research associates.
Start of Employment
September 1st 2007, or as soon as possible thereafter.
