[UK] MSc in Computing in the Physical - Cardiff University
Cardiff University is offering a number of EPSRC-funded studentships to support study on a new MSc programme in Computing in the Physical Sciences.
Course information:
This new course, run jointly by the Schools of Chemistry, Computer Science and Mathematics, provides training in the application of mathematical and computational methods for scientific investigation. It offers a thorough grounding in the fundamental concepts of scientific computing, including modern programming, mathematical, and theoretical methods. Following these basic topics, a choice of optional modules on applications as diverse as modelling of materials and biomolecules, information theory, and advanced mathematics is offered. Finally, a research project will be carried out during the summer months, offering the chance to apply knowledge gained in a cutting-edge research environment.
The course is designed to be accessible to a wide range of backgrounds across all sciences.
Funding and eligibility:
Up to twenty fully- and part-funded studentships are available for entry in September 2007. These awards are open to UK-resident EU citizens. A minimum qualification of a 2ii degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline is required.
Funding is generally limited to EU students, but candidates from outside the EU who can support their own studies are welcome to apply.
