[Sweden] Postdoctoral Scholarship in Design Research

The Division of Functional Product Development at Luleå University of Technology, Luleå, Sweden, is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for the period September 1, 2009 – August 31, 2010.

The fellow will work on a collaborative research project with Stanford University’s Center for Design Research. The project seeks to improve the performance of design teams, based on the argument that a long-term sustained capacity to innovate cannot be made to happen through following a particular innovation process. Thus, this research project builds on an improvisation paradigm that focuses on spaces and instruments – spaces that allow the team to open up to new ideas, and instruments that support effective team performance.

The exploration of new design-innovation spaces and instruments is closely tied to two world-class experimental environments available at LTU and Stanford; the new LTU Design Observatory and the long standing Stanford Design Observatory.
Requirements

Candidates must have received their doctorate degree by the start of the appointment. Qualified candidates should preferrably have previous experience in observational studies of design and engineering teams. The position is based in Luleå, and is financed by the Kempe Foundations.
