[Switzerland] Scholarship 2009-2010 of the Swiss Government

The Swiss Government is now inviting applications for scholarships from Irish postgraduate students for the academic year 2009/2010.

These scholarships are intended preferably for post-graduate students with a clearly defined aim of studies and who, by staying in Switzerland, will be able to further their education and to undertake research work in the fields in which the Swiss universities are particularly active.

Within the framework of a special allocation, scholarships for advanced arts students in the areas of graphics and applied arts as well as music (without fixed distribution by country) are offered to the best applicants who are already at an advanced stage of their training.

A fair knowledge of either German or French is essential as courses are given in these languages in Switzerland. Candidates will have to pass a written and oral examination at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ireland. These language tests, as well as a short personal interview will be held on Wednesday 3 December 2008 at 2 p.m..

The completed application form and relevant enclosures should be returned, in triplicate, to the Department of Education and Science, International Section, Marlborough St., Dublin 1 no later than 5.00 pm on the above closing date. Late applications will not be considered.

All the necessary documents and Irish graduates who wish to apply must complete the application forms electronically. The forms must be printed off and signed by the applicant.

Please note that all postgraduate scholarship offers received in the International Section will be published on the Department of Education and Science’s website www.education.ie and you should click into “Home”, “Students & Trainees”, “Opportunities Abroad for Postgraduates” -
