[Thailand] Buddhism and Thai Society - Thammasat University
Program Details:
Four week program designed for a small group of international students interested in
Buddhism and Asian Studies. The program focuses on the complex relationship
between Buddhism and Thai history, politics, economics, education, literature, law,
arts, and theatre. Participants will be instructed by distinguished scholars and professors
at Thammasat University and will visit sites of particular historical importance.
Courses and Credits:
Students take the following two courses (3 credits each):
- Thai Society & Culture
- Buddhist Institutions
Classes are held in the morning Monday through Friday with time for study or cultural
explorations in the afternoon. On the weekends, students participate in field trips to
temples, monasteries, museums, archaeological remains, palaces, and ethnic minority
communities throughout Thailand. Opportunities will also be provided for attending
cultural performances of Thai theatre, dance, and music.
