Victoria University of Wellington, one of New Zealand’s oldest and most prestigious Universities, is pleased to invite applications for NZ$20,000 Fees Scholarships to commence in February 2007.
As well as having an established tradition of excellence in research-based teaching, Victoria University is located in New Zealand’s capital city with a strong representation of international students from more than 70 countries. International students have considered the University a preferred study destination for over 50 years.
Purpose of award
Victoria University of Wellington is offering a limited number of International Undergraduate Fees Scholarships for students of outstanding ability from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Selection criteria
Students must have achieved at a high level during their senior secondary school or college years and provide evidence of this with their application. Further details will be avilable on this website by August 2006.
- be citizens of Malaysia;Thailand or Vietnam
- be completing their secondary education outside of New Zealand;
- be under twenty two years of age on the first day of December of the year of application;
- be intending to enrol full time, in the year following the year of application, for a first undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington this being their first enrolment at any tertiary institution;
- not have lodged, personally or as dependants, a current application, for migration, or have been granted residence status in New Zealand;
- be able to satisfy the New Zealand Government requirements for international student entry into New Zealand (health, character etc);
- produce evidence of achievements or forecast achievements at one of the following levels or their equivalent:
Malaysia
- A minimum of 3 GCE ‘A’ Levels with all subjects Grade B or equivalant.
- A minimum of 3 STPM passes with all subjects Grade B or equivalant.
Other internationally recognized qualifications of a similar standard will be acceptable.
Thailand
- M6 with a GPA of 3.2 or higher; or one year of study from a recognised institute with a GPA of 3.2 or higher
Other internationally recognized qualifications of a similar standard will be acceptable.
Vietnam
- Universal Seconday School Certificate with an average of 8/10 or National University Entrance Exam with at least 26.
Other internationally recognized qualifications of a similar standard will be acceptable.
