[UK] MA Contemporary Arts Practice and Dissemination
The MA in Contemporary Arts Practice & Dissemination (MACAPD) is a two year full-time, cross-disciplinary, practice-led Masters Award. It provides students with a unique opportunity to explore strategies, ideas and practices that permeate contemporary arts. Structured around a common framework of intensive meetings and three-month residencies, it enables students to meet, work and engage with contemporary arts practice across a network of five European partner institutions:
- Dartington College of Arts (Network Co-ordinator) - specialist university sector college for contemporary performance arts practices (United Kingdom)
- Piet Zwart Institute, Willem de Kooning Academy, Rotterdam - Institute for contemporary visual arts practice, social and cultural relations (Netherlands)
- Centre Creacio L’Animal a l’esquena - Centre for practice-based research and training programme in dance, choreography & physically based performance in association with University of Girona, Postgraduate Faculty (Catalonia, Spain).
- Maska Ljubljana - Institute for Publishing, Production and Education - performance theory and contemporary practice, in association with Institute for Study of Ideas and Cultures, Nova Gorica University (Slovenia).
- Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts - Visual arts and curational research in association with Centre for Contemporary Arts, Vilnius (Lithuania).
MACAPD is aimed at artists, students, researchers and practitioners who want to develop their own practice in relation to the contexts of contemporary culture and media with particular emphasis on issues of dissemination, publication, editing and documentation. The MACAPD programme at Dartington is a full-time course running for 30 teaching weeks per year over two years (October - July). It conforms to the 3 + 2 year Higher Education standard adopted by the EU in the Bologna Declaration (1999). The 2007/08 semester starts in late September 2007.
