PhD Studentship in Rehabilitation of upper limb sensorimotor function and disability in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis

Applications are invited for this externally funded PhD studentship to explore the efficacy and cost effectiveness of education and exercise, using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, on upper limb function and disability in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis.
The studentship is held by Dr Lindsay Bearne (Division of Applied Biomedical Sciences), Professor Mike Hurley (Health and Social Care Research Division), along with Professor David Scott and Dr Ernest Choy (Academic Department of Rheumatology, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London). The student will be based in the Division of Applied Biomedical Research and the Rehabilitation Research Unit, Kings College London.
Candidates should hold or expect to obtain a First or Upper Second Class Honours Degree, or a Master’s degree, in a relevant subject (eg health professions, exercise physiology or a health-related topic).
This studentship aims to enable outstanding graduates to embark on a research career within this world class university. The award starts in September 2008 with a tax-free stipend of £17,000 in the first year, with annual increases thereafter.
