[UK] Post Doctoral Research Associate at The University of Manchester
Psoriasis is an important inflammatory skin disease for which there remains a need for effective new therapies. We have recently found that early-onset psoriasis is characterised by a systemic defect in the ability of epidermal LC to respond to those signals that in the skin of normal subjects cause cellular activation and mobilisation. You will lead a project to define at the cellular and molecular levels the nature of changes in LC function seen in psoriasis and the relationship of these to disease pathogenesis.
You should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in immunology/skin biology or another relevant discipline. Experience of one or more of the following would be advantageous: immunology, dendritic cell biology and molecular biology.
MRC funded, the post is tenable from January 1st 2008 for three years.
Salary £26,666 - £29,139 p.a.
