Wellcome Trust Masters award (MSc)
The Centre for History in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) invites applications for nomination for the annual Master’s award in the History of Medicine.
The award is open to a student accepted for the MSc Public Health who agrees to follow an ‘historical pathway’ through the MSc. This will involve taking the History & Health module in Term 3 and writing a dissertation on an historical subject for their Masters dissertation.
The MSc award will provide full tuition fees at Home/EU level and a maintenance grant. This is a quota award from the Trust to support the Centre’s enhancement award.
Preference for the award will be given to a student who can demonstrate an initial training, or interest, in history. Lack of such prior engagement will not disqualify an applicant and those who wish to begin historical work are encouraged to apply. Social science experience is also an advantage.
Students wishing to be considered for this award should submit the following:
- completed LSHTM MSc application forms
- completed application form for the Wellcome Trust Masters Award
- brief outline of proposed Masters dissertation (one A4 page)
Deadline for Applications: 31 March 2007
Interviews may be held in April/May 2007 and the chosen student will be nominated to the Trust in late June/ early July 2007.
