[UK] Postgraduate Studentship - University of Southampton

Postgraduate Studentship
Electronics Systems Design Research Group
School of Electronics and Computer Science

The School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton is a world class centre of research excellence. The School is the largest of its kind in the UK and it was awarded the top grade (5*) for its research in Electronics and Computer Science in the 2001 national assessment of research in UK universities (www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/research/ )

A fully funded Postgraduate studentship (UK fees only) is available within the Electronics Systems Design Research Group and is related to an EPSRC grant recently awarded, to run for 3 years from October 2007. The project aims:

  • To develop modelling and simulation techniques for nano-CMOS circuits, subject to large variability.
  • To develop techniques for abstracting circuit data from low-level simulations.
  • To investigate methods for statistical simulations on grid-computing platforms.
  • To investigate and model the effects of spot defects in nano-CMOS technologies.

Applicants should have a 1st or 2.1 class degree in electronics, computer science or related discipline. Fluency in VHDL or Verilog is desirable, though not essential.

Additional information is below and informal enquiries may be made to Professor M Zwolinski (023 8059 3528, email: mz@ecs.soton.ac.uk ).The studentship starts in October 2007.

Please apply by sending a complete application as described on the School of Electronics and Computer Science postgraduate admissions page: (www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/admissions/pg/apply.php ).
