We have a range of excellence scholarships available for those wishing to study in any of the five schools within the Faculty of Engineering.
Who is eligible?
Any potential student who has been offered a place on any of the following postgraduate taught courses within the Faculty of Engineering.
How are they awarded?
Academic achievement/excellence
How much are they worth?
This varies but ranges from 20% to 30% of full fees (£2,280 to £3,420 for 2007 entry) and applies for each year of the course. The level of scholarships vary between Schools and courses so please see course listings for more information. You can scroll down the page or follow the links below:

deadline for submitting applications
30 June 2007 (for entry in 2007), successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of the deadline and must respond accepting the scholarship within 14 days. Download application form.
The School of Civil Engineering
We are offering up to 12 postgraduate taught excellence scholarships for 2007. Scholarships are worth 20%-30% of full fees and apply for each year of the course (in 2007 this equates to £2,280 and can be used to off-set fees or to assist with maintenance costs).
- Engineering Project Management
- Environmental Engineering Project Management
- Infrastructure Asset Engineering and Management
- International Construction Management and Engineering
- Structural Engineering (as this is a new course there are two 30% scholarships for 2007)
- Sustainable Waste Management
The School of Computing
We are offering up to 4 postgraduate taught excellence scholarships for 2007. Scholarships are worth 20%-30% of full fees and apply for each year of the course (in 2007 this equates to £2,280 and can be used to off-set fees or to assist with maintenance costs).
- Cognitive Systems (MSc)
- Computing and Management (MSc) (as this is a new course there are two 30% scholarships for 2007)
The School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering
We are offering up to 14 postgraduate taught excellence scholarships for 2007 . Scholarships are worth 30% of full fees and apply for each year of the course (in 2007 this equates to £3,420 and can be used to off-set fees or to assist with maintenance costs).
- Communications Engineering (two scholarships)
- Electronics and Electrical Engineering (two scholarships)
- Microwave, Terahertz and Nanoscale Electronics (two scholarships)
- Modern Digital and Radio Frequency Wireless Communications (six scholarships - three will be awarded to students from Pakistan, two to students from India and one to a student from Nigeria)
- RF and Microwave Design for Wireless Systems (two scholarships)
The School of Mechanical Engineering
We are offering up to 3 postgraduate taught excellence scholarships for 2007. Scholarships are worth 20% of full fees and apply for each year of the course (in 2007 this equates to £2,280 and can be used to off-set fees or to assist with maintenance costs).
Additional the School offers an EPSRC MSc Scholarship for
MSc Combustion and Energy.
