2009/2010 Scholarships, Chinese Ministry of Education-University of Oxford
Overview:
This scheme aims to provide Chinese students who demonstrate both academic excellence and leadership potential the opportunity to study for a DPhil at the University of Oxford.
Criteria:
- Nationality Mainland china, Must have graduated from one of the 211 project universities.
- Academic excellence
- The potential to become leaders in their field, decision-makers and opinion formers within China
Level of study: DPhil
All subjects, although preference will be given to research linked to one of the Ministry’s priority areas.
and have duration usually 3 years (matching a DPhil student’s fee liability). This awards are annually renewable subject to satisfactory academic progress.
This scholarship opened for new students. Those who are currently studying at Oxford and progressing from a Master’s to a DPhil are not eligible.
Application procedure:
- Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Chinese Ministry of Education - University of Oxford Scholarships in the Funding Section of the University’s Graduate Application Form
- You must also apply separately to the China Scholarship Council for this scholarship. Application information and forms are available at the CSC website. The CSC will accept applications from 20 February 2009 to 20 March 2009. Please visit the website before this time to read more about the CSC application process.
Your application can only be considered if you apply to both Oxford and the China Scholarship Council. At the time of applying, you must enclose your offer letter from Oxford (if available) or written confirmation from Oxford that you have applied by the deadline. This can be obtained by emailing student.funding@admin.ox.ac.uk; you must include your name, nationality, course applied for at Oxford, your graduating university in China and research area. Note that the application procedure for 2009/10 will be different, and information will be posted here when it is available.
Closing date:
Application Deadline 2 (9 January 2009 for Medical Sciences and Philosophy students; 23 January 2009 for all other subjects) for admission to Oxford.
20 March 2009 for application to China Scholarship Council.
