[USA] Study in China Scholarship 2008-2009 at University of Pittsburgh
The Asian Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh announces the 2008-2009 Study-in-China Scholarship for Chinese language study in an approved program abroad. Pitt undergraduate students, and undergraduate PCHE students enrolled in University of Pittsburgh Chinese language classes, are eligible for these awards. Award amounts will be based on the cost of the language program elected by the student, the contribution the student is able to make to the cost, and the total budget of the scholarship program.
Terms and Conditions for 2008-2009
- Applicants must have completed at least two years of Chinese (speaking and reading) by the inception of the award.
- These scholarships are exclusively for Chinese language study abroad.
- Funding may be used for Summer 2008, and academic year study (one or two nsemesters) in 2008-2009.
- Students must enroll in a Chinese-language program approved by the Awards
Committee. - Academic-year awardees must be enrolled in full-time language study, defined as a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Summer study awardees must enroll in a program of at least 6 weeks duration, with a total of 120-140 contact hours (depending on student’s level).
- Awardees must be enrolled in the Certificate Program in Asian Studies.
- Students must complete a Study Abroad Contract in accordance with the procedures of the University of Pittsburgh Study Abroad Office.
The Asian Studies Center can assist students in finding an appropriate program.
