[UK] The Patrick Stewart Scholarships - University of Huddersfield
The University of Huddersfield is offering several scholarships for new students enrolling in the 2007/08 academic year. The conditions for these scholarships are listed below.
- The scholarships are for full-fee paying, full-time students from Russia, China and Kenya.
- The scholarships are to the value of £1,000 each.
- The deadline for consideration is 31 July 2007.
- All applicants from the above countries will be automatically considered for the scholarships.
- Successful applicants will be notified in due course
Progression awards are also available for eligible international students who progress from an undergraduate programme at the University of Huddersfield to a taught postgraduate course in one of the seven Schools of the University. The deadline for applications to be considered under this initiative will be 31 July 2007 and successful applicants will be notified in due course.
Bursaries for Postgraduate study
Huddersfield University Business School (HUBS)
£500 bursaries are available for students taking full-time Master’s degrees and other designated full time postgraduate qualifications (ACCA final level, LPC full-time) within the School in 2007/8.
Do I qualify?
The ‘loyalty’ bursary is available to University of Huddersfield graduates within two years of successful completion of an undergraduate degree enrolling onto a full-time Master’s degree and other designated full-time postgraduate qualifications (ACCA final level, LPC full-time).
School of Music, Humanities and Media
For existing students
£500 bursaries are available for students taking full-time Master’s degrees and other designated full-time postgraduate qualifications within the School in 2007/8.
You will need to be an existing student of the University of Huddersfield.
For all students
£2,000 bursaries are available for outstanding applicants who have been offered a place on a Master’s course within the School. Application deadlines are as follows:
- All MMus courses – deadline 6 July 2007
- MA Computer Composition – deadline 6 July 2007
- MA History – deadline 20 August 2007
- MA Writing for Performance – deadline 20 August 2007
- MA Ensemble Physical Theatre – deadline April 2008
Applications are judged on academic merit, including motivation for taking the course, academic progress and future intentions. Applications will be judged by considering specific examples of notable achievements relevant to the course for which you are applying (such as high grades on particular pieces of work, performances, publications, prizes etc).
Each subject area has more specific advice which is sent out to those who are offered a place on the Master’s courses for which they have applied. Application forms are available from the School’s web pages.

Fee Discount
A 5% discount on tuition fees will be allowed in the case of international students who pay their fees by a designated date in advance of the commencement of their courses.
Deadline dates are:
- For students enrolling in September - 31 August 2007
- For students enrolling in January - 30 December 2007
Holset Scholarship
An award of £3,000 is to be made to an international student from China. Further details are to be confirmed in due course.
