[UK] The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship
The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers college scholarships to students with financial need who display academic excellence, strong citizenship and character, and a desire to make a meaningful contribution to society.
SCHOLARSHIP HIGHLIGHTS
- Applicants must be permanent residents of either a New England or Mid-Atlantic state.
- 180 New Scholarships Available
- $3,000,000 in New and Renewal Awards for 2007-2008
- Congratulations to our 2006-2007 Recipients! 480 Renewal Students and 184 New Students received $2,900,000 in scholarship awards.
Applicants should:
- Have a GPA 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
- Be enrolled in a demanding course of study
- Demonstrate skilled writing ability
- Rank in the top 20% of the graduating class (High School)
- Demonstrate a desire to make a meaningful contribution to society both present and future
- Be involved in a balance of community, school and work activities
- Pursue goals and aspirations with integrity, resolution, self-discipline and judgement
- Substantial unmet need
- Heavy student loan burden
- Special financial circumstances
- Low EFC (Expected Family Contribution) from the FAFSA Student Aid Report

Financial Need
Qualifying applicants will have one or more of the following:
Typically, recipients’ parents have a moderate adjusted gross income. Last year’s mean AGI was $42,000.
The Deadline for New Applicants is May 1st, 2007.
Applications from scholars who are renewing their awards are due before April 2nd, 2007.
