Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowships
US government fellowships for “Area Studies” research in Africa, East Asia, Southeast Asia & the Pacific Islands, South Asia, the Near East, East Central Europe & Eurasia, and the Western Hemisphere (Canada, Central and South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean) (NOT Western Europe). Application is much more complex than that for IIE Fulbright and much more focused on advanced doctoral research that presupposes prior knowledge of the world area/country of application. Open only to US citizens and permanent residents. If you win, release of funds requires formal admission to PhD candidacy.
